I am Giulia Guglielmi. I live in Milan, I work with software, and in my spare time I build small electronics projects and write down what happens, including the parts that do not work on the first try.

What you will find here

Most of what I publish starts on a table with a board, a multimeter, and a question I cannot answer from a datasheet. The current thread is a soil-moisture sensor built on a Wemos D1 that sends its readings to ThingSpeak: how to wire and calibrate it, how much current it really draws in each active cycle and in deep sleep, and how to size a battery and a panel to run it on solar energy. Alongside the projects I write about the things underneath everyday computing, such as what is actually inside a .txt file.

How I write these notes

• Numbers come from my own measurements, and I say which instrument produced them and how it was connected.
• When a value is an estimate rather than a reading, it is labelled as one. Some things my instruments simply cannot measure.
• Corrections are made in the open. If a number changes, the article changes with it and the date at the top says so.
• Everything is published in Italian and in English, so the same notes are useful to whoever needs them.
